    Join Us June 25-27, 2018

    Dear Federal, State, and Local Affiliates of the IAFF 3rd District, 

    IAFF District 3 Vice President and NE Conference Chairman Jay Colbert announces the following: 

    You are hereby notified that, pursuant to the Constitution of the New England Conference of Fire Fighters, the 35th Biennial New England Conference will be held at the Foxwoods Fox Tower Hotel in Mashantucket, CT on June 25, 26, & 27 of 2018. The Mashantucket Pequot Fire Fighters Local 4746 and the Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut will be hosting the Conference and are suggesting arrival for Monday, June 25. The NECFF is the caucus of all the IAFF Locals in the 3rd District, and gives us all an opportunity to meet collectively in New England ahead of the IAFF Convention and hear from the General President and General Secretary-Treasurer who have been invited to speak. IAFF Peer Support training and IAFF PEP Classes will be offered.  This will be our opportunity to hear and discuss Convention Resolutions.

    This year we will have a special presentation from the Fire Chief  Greg Cassell and Local 1908  President Steve Thompson from Clark County Nevada, who will detail the response to the October 1, 2017 mass shooting.  This is valuable presentation is not to be missed.

    Additionally, you will receive updates from each of the State Presidents detailing how these difficult economic times are leading to unprecedented attacks on our membership, and how each state is dealing with these issues.  

    Resolutions will be accepted until Conference registration begins, but the business of the Conference will be greatly expedited if Resolutions are submitted to the Secretary-Treasurer prior, submit Resolutions to the NECFF, 43 Centre St. Concord, NH 03301.

    Metro Dade Firefighters Local 1403 regrets to announce the passing of Retired FF Steven Bahr on August 11, 2019. He just turned 70 this year as well. Steven proudly served MDFR for 30 years. He was hired 3/18/74 and retired in 6/30/04. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. May he rest in peace. Services to be announced.

    Metro-Dade Firefighters Local 1403 regrets to announce the passing of Retired Chief Patrick Lyons on August 11, 2019. He just turned 70. Chief Lyons proudly served MDFR for 35 years. He was an avid mountain biker and frisbee golf player and lived his life to the fullest. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. May he rest in peace. Services to be announced.

    S. Prince Street Structure Fire
    08/11/19 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 1:24 a.m. on Saturday August 11th, Local members responded to reports of an apartment building fire at 5873 S. Prince Street in Littleton. Upon arrival, members observed flames and smoke coming from the 3rd floor on the Church Street Side. Officers from Littleton Police Department started evacuating the structure while members advanced hose lines.

    08/11/19 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 12:01 on August 9th, 2019 Local members responded to a reported commercial vehicle fire at 7120 S. Jordan Rd. in Centennial. Quint 35 arrived on scene and found a large CAT front end loader fully engulfed in fire.  Members were able to quickly extinguish the fire before it was able to spread.  No injuries were reported.

    Parkside Apartment Complex Fire 3:30 AM on 8/10/19. Livonia Fire Department crews rescued two civilians who were trapped on the second floor and contained the fire to the original 2 units.     On the evening of Monday August 5th, Local 2086 and 1309 members responded to a house fire in the 3400 block of West Powers Avenue in Littleton. While crews were enroute smoke was already visible from a distance. Upon arrival members encountered heavy smoke conditions and confirmed with the occupants that everyone safely evacuated.

    South Olathe Cir. Structure Fire

    On August 2nd, 2019 at approximately 16:18 Local members responded to a reported residential structure fire at 5009 S. Olathe Circle. Engine 22, stationed a block away, arrived within minutes of the call and found a deck burning behind the residence. Members made quick work of the fire and forced entered into the home to check for extension, and the rest of the alarm as cancelled.

    Passing of Charter Member Captain Arthur K. Daly Jr.

    IAFF Local F-147 regrets to announce the passing of Captain Arthur K. Daly Jr. age 83 passed away on Friday August 2, 2019 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. He was born in Neptune and lived there and in W. Belmar most of his life. Art served his country as a member of the 505 Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division 1953-1956. Art is a member of the P.G.A.

    At 11:07 a.m. on Saturday August 3rd, Local 2086 and 1309 members responded to a vehicle vs. building accident at 8246 W. Bowles Ave. in Jefferson County. When members from South Metro Engine 13 arrived, they found a pick up truck inside the Qdoba restaurant and began checking for injuries.

    Local 21 Regrets To Announce The Passing Of Retired Firefighter Richard Haider

         Local 21 regrets to announce the passing of Retired Firefighter Richard Haider who passed away on July 24. Richard started for the department on June 7, 1948 and retired on April 30, 1990. Visitation will take place at Wulff Funeral Home, 1485 White Bear Ave, Saint Paul on Monday, August 12 from 4-8 pm and again one hour prior to mass at church.
    Highway 67 Brush Fire
    07/31/19 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 6:32 p.m. on Tuesday July 30, 2019, Local members responded to an automatic aid wildland fire with West Douglas County Fire Protection District.  911 callers reported 2 fires burning near Madge Gulch Road and Highway 67, a large plume of smoke was already visible from miles away. The smallest fire along Madge Gulch was contained at 50x50 feet and quickly extinguished.
    Fair Lane Deck Fire

    At 2:13 a.m. on Tuesday July 30, 2019, Local members responded to a house fire in the 9700 block of E. Fair Lane in Arapahoe County. When members arrived, they found the backyard deck involved with fire and advanced a hose line to extinguish it. Thanks to a combination of fast reporting and quick actions from members, the flames did not extend inside the home.

    High Street Structure Fire

    At 6:42 a.m. on Friday July 26th, Local members responded to a house fire at 6363 S. High St. in Centennial. First arriving members observed smoke showing and a working fire in the basement. Although the occupants evacuated prior to Firefighters arriving, all 3 of them required medical evaluation and 1 person was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
